Today a colleague of ours from Vincent Francigny’s team excavating the Meroitic necropoleis of Sai Island, namely our friend Romain David, defended his doctoral dissertation at the University Paul Valéry – Montpellier 3.
Vincent has already obtained his doctoral title with a thesis investigating the private Meroitic tomb – surely using material from his long experience digging on Sai too. We guess that this makes their group the most efficient among those currently active on Sai in transforming their fieldwork from the island into academic titles!
We wish for even more success in the future; and we congratulate of course Romain – Sudan archaeology should be proud for its new doctor!!!
